Since re-entering the South African market, the Chery brand has acquired significant success, and it shows no signs of slowing down. The Chinese automaker is set to expand its lineup even further with a new bakkie, and this is exciting news for us at Group1 Chery. The new midsize pickup truck is set to compete with popular models like the Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger, and Nissan Navara – which happen to be among the best-selling vehicles in the country. Here’s What We Know So Far According to multiple sources, the newcomer will be based on a unibody platform rather than a conventional body-on-frame. Although details are still scarce, the yet-to-be-named newcomer is expected to debut in 2025. This aligns with Chery’s announcement from 2022 about their plans to produce a new pickup truck as part of the company’s broader expansion plan into global markets. More claims suggest that the new bakkie will be offered in single-cab and double-cab body styles, and will most likely incorporate styling from the current Tiggo models.
